The interdisciplinary Master of Technology Management (MTM) program of the TMC was first launched in June of 1996. In only six years since the initial launch of its MTM program, the TMC has so far received (as of academic year 2001-2002) a total of 1,334 graduate student applications, which is an above average figure when compared with applications to most other UP graduate programs over the same period. Of this total number of applications, the TMC has accepted about 30 percent only, or a total of 387 students. While academic qualifications and work experience of the student applicants normally account for this relatively low acceptance rate, TMC’s limited faculty and classroom facilities are also constraints.
Profile-wise, most of the students enrolled in the MTM program of the TMC are middle and upper level executives and managers from leading technology-oriented private companies and multinational corporations (United Laboratories, San Miguel Corporation, RFM Corporation, Procter and Gamble, etc.),entrepreneurs and consultants in technology-based enterprises, and administrators and decision-makers from technology-focused government agencies and corporations (Department of Science and Technology, National Power Corporation, Philippine National Oil Company, etc.).
